Gross to Net Netherlands 2026: Salary Calculator
How much will you really take home in the Netherlands? See 2026 net-pay examples, try your gross salary, and understand holiday pay and deductions.
Your gross salary is the amount before tax. Your net salary is what you actually take home. The tricky part in the Netherlands is that an annual offer often includes 8% holiday allowance, while your normal monthly payslip may not include its payout.
These examples show both numbers without making you work through the tax rules first.

What would you take home?
Two common Dutch annual salary packages. These examples already include 8% holiday allowance, which is shown separately from a normal month's pay.
€55,000 gross annual package
Net in a normal month
€3,300

Net in a normal month
€4,255
Teal: estimated annual take-home · Orange: estimated withholding
See the €80,000 calculationAssumptions: employee below AOW age, full-year pay, payroll tax credit on, no 30% ruling, pension deduction, bonus or company car. Actual payslips vary. The annual net includes the separate estimated holiday payment; it is not twelve identical monthly payslips.
Calculate your own net salary
Enter the annual amount from your offer, or switch to a monthly salary. The calculator uses 2026 Dutch income-tax rules.
Gross per month
€5,787
Net per month
€4,064
Holiday pay (May)
€6,816
€4,064 net + €2,752 holiday net
12 mo × €463/mo = €5,556 gross
Special rate 50.47% withholding → €2,752 holiday net added in May
Check the salary wording: does the amount already include 8% holiday allowance? If it comes on top, turn off “includes holiday allowance” before comparing results.
Why is your net salary lower?
Three things explain most standard Dutch employee payslips:
- Income tax is progressive. In 2026, someone below AOW age pays 35.75%, 37.56% and 49.50% on successive parts of taxable Box 1 income. The highest rate does not apply to the entire salary.
- Tax credits lower your bill. The general tax credit and employment tax credit depend on your circumstances and income. Use loonheffingskorting at no more than one employer or benefit provider at the same time.
- Your offer may include money paid later. Holiday allowance is commonly accrued and paid in May or June. Your annual average net pay can therefore be higher than a normal monthly payment.
The calculation estimates payroll withholding. It cannot know employer pension contributions, a company car, multiple jobs, bonuses or every payslip deduction.
Why €80,000 gross is not €6,667 monthly base pay
For a €80,000 annual package including 8% holiday allowance:
| Item | Gross amount |
|---|---|
| Annual base salary: €80,000 ÷ 1.08 | €74,074 |
| Normal monthly base: €74,074 ÷ 12 | €6,173 |
| Holiday allowance: 8% of annual base | €5,926 |
| Total annual gross package | €80,000 |
Rounded to the nearest euro. This is a gross-package breakdown, not a second tax calculation.
If your contract says €80,000 excluding holiday allowance, the gross annual total is instead €86,400. That is why an “€80k offer” needs a closer look.
Use the job-offer decoder if you’re comparing two offers, or the holiday allowance guide if you’re trying to understand a May payslip.
Why your payslip might not match
Before assuming the calculator is wrong, check:
- Your payroll period: monthly or four-weekly, full month or partial month.
- How your package is paid: holiday allowance monthly or separately; bonus or 13th month.
- Other payslip lines: employee pension, taxable benefits, reimbursements and tax-credit settings.
- 30% ruling: only use the option when your employer applies an approved decision in payroll.
If the amount in your bank account does not match the estimate, use the Dutch payslip explanation to check withholding, pension and other deductions.
If you have the ruling, use our 30% ruling calculator and eligibility guide for a direct with/without comparison. The ruling is not a 30% reduction of your final tax bill.
Questions people ask
Is net salary the amount paid every month?
Usually, normal monthly net is your recurring payment after withholding and applicable payroll deductions. An annual net average also includes any separately paid holiday allowance or irregular remuneration. They are different planning figures.
Is Dutch holiday allowance taxed twice?
No. Your employer may use a special payroll withholding table when paying holiday allowance, but the final annual income-tax assessment considers total income and tax already withheld. A high withholding percentage on one payslip is not a separate final tax rate.
Can I calculate a 2027 net salary here?
This calculator uses 2026 tax rules. Some 2027 changes have been announced or enacted, but future-year Box 1 rates, credits and individual eligibility must be verified before a reliable 2027 net calculation is published.
